Four Lipsticks for Pretending You're French

Have you ever wondered how everyone here is so chic? Well… it’s ineffable.

In pursuit of je ne sais quoi I have tried my fair share of lipsticks. For the lips, cheeks and tip of nose it’s the only makeup you need in your bag (and maybe YSL touche éclat).

If one is attempting to appear French this summer you’re going to need one of these:

1. Chanel Rouge Allure is the penultimate french girl lipstick. So many shades of red–you simply cannot beat a classic.

2. La Bouche Rouge is a french clean beauty brand, but dare I say their best product is the 70’s America lipstick line. Bold color and a chic leather case Jane Birkin herself would have loved.

3. Dries Van Noten Refillable Lipstick is practically art. A gorgeous case more stunning than the Mona Lisa.

4. Gucci Baume à Lèvres is technically Italian but the name is French, so it still counts. This is my personal go-to in shade ‘5 Ester Rosewood’. The color is gorgeous and the case looks like if Tiffany’s made shot-gun bullets. Très chic.
   

Trust me, they won’t even know you don’t speak French.
